On November 20, 2023 West Grey Police officers were advised that a male party currently on domestic violence related charges was breaching the conditions of his release order.

Officers located and arrested a 51 year old male from West Grey.  He was held for bail and remains in custody at press time.

 

On November 19, 2023 West Grey officers conducted a traffic stop on Garafraxa St S in Durham.  A bag with suspected cannabis was observed within reach of the driver which is an offence under the Cannabis Control Act and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered suspected Schedule 1 drugs.  Both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle were arrested.  Both were was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance under the CDSA and having cannabis readily available the CCA. The driver was also charged with one count of breaching an existing probation order.  Both parties were released on conditions and will attend court at a future date.

 

On November 15th, 2023 a youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arrested and charged with Mischief and Assault. He was caught by a homeowner in the former Bentick township while in the act of committing mischief to a residence.  The youth was released with conditions and will attend court at a future date however the investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.

 

There have been a number of car vs deer collisions in the past week and motorists are reminded to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

 

The West Grey Police Toy Drive is in full swing and officers will be on hand at Farlow’s Home Hardware on Saturday December 9th (change from December 2nd) to help in the collection of toy donations.
