On November 29, 2023 members of the West Grey Police Service Criminal Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at an address in the former Town of Durham. Seven people were taken into custody.  Five were later released after being served trespass notices not to re-attend the property and two people were charged under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act with possession of methamphetamine and released with conditions and a future court date.

 

On December 3, 2023 West Grey Officers conducted a bail compliance check on an individual who was out on bail with conditions to reside at an address in West Grey.  The individual was found to be in breach of that condition and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

 

On December 5, 2023 two male parties from the former Town of Durham alleged to have committed  theft from a local business.  The business owner who observed the theft followed the two to their residence  and while attempting to retrieve the stolen property the business owner was assaulted with a weapon and threatened.  West Grey Police were called to attend and as a result of their investigation officers arrested the parties at their residence. While at the police station on of the parties assaulted a police office while being processed. One was charged with Theft under $5000, Assault, Assaulting a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest.  The other male party was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats and Resisting Arrest.  Both were held for bail hearings and subsequently released by the Ontario Court of Justice on conditions with a future court date.
