On December 16, 2023 West Grey Police officers responded to a report that a 39 year old male from West Grey who had recently been released from Central North Correctional Centre was breaching the conditions of his probation order. Officers were able to located the party and took him into custody.  He was subsequently charged with three counts of breaching his probation order, was held for bail and remains in custody at press time.

 

On December 13, 2023 officers were asked to conduct a well being check on a 26 year old male from West Grey.  He was located not far from his residence on Grey Rd 4 east of Durham  operating am motor vehicle.  The odour of alcohol was detected on his breath and he failed to provide a suitable breath sample in the roadside screening device.  At that point he was advised he was being placed under arrest and the male resisted arrest. He was transported to the station where he blew 152 and 158 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.  He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Upon his release he was transported to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre Durham for an assessment under the Mental Health Act.

 

On Friday December 15, 2023 West Grey officers were conducting RIDE in the village of Neustadt.  A 44 year old male who was known to have warrants entered the RIDE program.  He was informed of the warrant and that he was being paced under arrest.  When he exited the vehicle an open case of beer was observed on the front passenger seat and the odour of alcohol was detected on the arrestee’s breath.  The suspect refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested for that offence in addition to the fail to comply with a recognizance charges related to the warrant.

 

On Monday December 18, 2023 officers were dispatched to an address on Grey Rd 4 west of Durham after a 18 year old female made threats against a 26 year old male.  The suspect was already facing charges related to a separate incident and on conditions  including  a curfew.  The female resisted officers’ attempts to arrest her.  The arrest was made and she was transported back to the West Grey Police station where she was processed and released to a future court date with additional conditions.

 

On December 12, 2023 West Grey Police received a report about a 95 year old West Grey  resident who was a victim of the “grandparent scam”.  After an investigation  a 56 year old West Grey man was charged in  connection to the fraud.  He was released on conditions and will appear in court in January 2024.

 

On December 19, 2023 West Grey Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Ayton.  Investigation led to the arrest of a 44 year old male who was charged with Assault and released with conditions. He will appear in court in January 2023.
