On July 4th 2024, West Grey officers responded to a reported domestic assault at a residence in Durham. Investigation revealed the initial caller was the aggressor in the incident and a 41 year old male was subsequently arrested, charged and released on conditions. On July 10th the male was re-arrested and charged with breaching his initial conditions of release. After a bail hearing he was again released and will appear in court in August to answer to all charges.
West Grey Police were called to a residence in Ayton on July 10, 2024 for a domestic dispute. Once on scene officers observed broken items and personal items belonging to one of the residents thrown out of the residence into the rain. A 35 year old male was arrested later that day and charged with one count of mischief. He was released on conditions and will appear in court at the end of July to answer to the charges.
On July 11, 2024 West Grey officers received a report from a female driver who was being followed by a male driver she believed to be impaired. Officers responded and located a 60 year old male in the driver’s seat of his vehicle near an intersection in Durham. He failed the roadside screening and was transported to the station where after further tests he was charged with over 80 as well as possession of a Schedule 1 substance. He was released with conditions, his license was suspended and his vehicle was towed and impounded. He will appear in court the end of July.
The warm weather on the weekend and over consumption of alcohol and other substances kept officers busy responding to calls.
On July 13, 2024 West Grey officers were dispatched to an address in Durham after a male was reported to be yelling at the building’s residents and causing a disturbance. A 59 year old male was arrested for cause disturbance and held in custody til sober when he was released on conditions. He will appear in court in August.
On July 14 officers responded to an assault in a local campground after two previous calls to the same campsite for disturbances . A 29 year old male from Kitchener who assaulted his partner was arrested, charged, held til sober and then released on conditions. He will appear in court at the end of July.
