During the month of August West Grey Police Service responded to 467 calls for service, these included harassment complaints, traffic enforcement and thefts.

Unwanted Person Nets Recovered Stolen Items
On August 5th, 2025 at approximately 9:30 am police responded to a report of unwanted persons on a property in the village of Ayton. The homeowner had evicted several tenants on his property and they were refusing to leave the property. Police attended and assisted with moving the unwanted parties along. While on scene, the homeowner advised that he believed one of the tenants was wanted by West Grey Police. While searching the area that the wanted male was last seen in, police located a large trailer full of stolen construction equipment and power tools as well as a stolen motorcycle and ATV. The trailer, tools, motorcycle and ATV were seized by police. Efforts continue to locate the owners for some of the recovered items.
August 12th, 2025
Intimate Partner Violence
On August 12th, 2025 at approximately 1:45pm police attended an address in Glenelg township in regards to a domestic incident. Police arrived at the residence and were met by the female victim who advised that her spouse had destroyed the garage, pulled contents out of several drawers in the kitchen, threw a jug of juice at the victim and eventually struck the female across the face while yelling obscenities at her. The accused male left the residence prior to police arrival but was located at a different address later that afternoon.
As a result, a 38-year-old male from Grey Highlands was arrested and charged with the following:
Adult – Assault Spousal
Adult – Mischief Under $5000
Adult – Failure to Comply with Probation Order
August 16th, 2025
Impaired Driving
On August 16th, 2025 at approximately 1:30am while en route to a different call, police observed a lone motor vehicle in the ditch of Concession 12 in Bentinck township. Police approached the vehicle to offer assistance and an odour of alcohol was present on the driver’s breath. Through further interaction with the driver police formed grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was asked to provide a roadside sample of her breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The ASD registered a ‘FAIL’ and the female was arrested and transported to the Hanover Police Station for a breath test. The female provided adequate samples and her readings showed 190 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood – more than twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 44-year-old female from Mount Forest was charged with the following. Her license was suspended and her vehicle impounded as well.

RIDE Programs
August 2025
The month of August is a busy one for our Joint Forces Operation RIDEs (JFO RIDE). These RIDE programs give all police services across Grey-Bruce the opportunity to work together, with a large police presence, focused on highly travelled or specific problem areas across the counties. The services partaking include West Grey, Hanover, Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores and the OPP.
15 RIDE programs were completed in August.
4 JFO RIDE programs were completed outside of West Grey.
1,679 drivers were stopped at our RIDE programs.
5 drivers were arrested for impaired after going through a RIDE program.
