During the week of April 28th – May 5th officers responded to 96 calls for service.
On April 30th, 2025 police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle accident in Glenelg. While on scene police spoke briefly with the lone female driver. The driver had sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital by EMS. Police followed and after the driver was assessed by medical staff, police spoke to her and formed grounds that the driver was impaired, upon questioning, the driver admitted to consuming alcohol. The female was arrested and transported to the West Grey Police Service where she provided a sample of her breath, which resulted in readings of 160mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood – twice the legal limit. The female driver was charged with Operation While Impaired and Dangerous Driving. She will be seen before the Ontario Court of Justice Walkerton at a later date.
On May 3rd, 2025 police responded to a report of an assault. While on scene the male victim was assessed by EMS for minor injuries. After investigation, a male suspect was arrested for Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief. The male was released on an Undertaking. He will be seen before the Ontario Court of Justice Walkerton at a later date.
On May 5th, 2025 police responded to a report of a person drinking liquor on a public transit bus (GOST) within the municipality of West Grey. Police located the transit bus and initiated a traffic stop. Upon investigation, police located a heavily intoxicated male passenger with open alcohol in his possession. The male was uncooperative with police and refused to identify himself or exit the bus. The male was taken into custody and later identified through a Canadian Passport found in his belongings. The male was held at West Grey Police Service until sober and subsequently charged with being intoxicated in a public place and having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place.
