During the week of January 7th to January 14th, 2026 West Grey Police Service responded to 87 calls for service, including motor vehicle collisions, well-being checks and family disputes.
On January 8th, 2026 police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Sideroad 5 between Concession 4 and Concession 6. As a result of the collision, the male driver was pronounced deceased on scene. A female youth passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On January 8th, 2026 police responded to a report of an abandoned dog in the area of Jackson Street East in Durham. A good Samaritan noticed the malnourished and neglected dog wandering in their subdivision. Police and West Grey Animal Control attended removed the dog for proper examination and care by a local veterinarian.
On January 10th, 2026 police received a request to check the wellbeing of a male. The male had made concerning comments to his family members. Police attended the male’s address and located him in clear mental distress. The male agreed to voluntarily attend a local hospital with police and speak to mental health professionals for the assistance and supports required.
On January 13th, 2026 police responded to reports of a fully engulfed vehicle fire in the area of Grey Road 28 and Concession 18. Neustadt Fire Department responded with police and was able to get the scene under control. No people were harmed.
