During the week of May 5th – 12th officers responded to 88 calls for service.
On May 6th, 2025 police responded to a report of an assault in progress in the town of Durham. Officers arrived on scene and separated two female parties. The victim had obvious signs of assault on her body and through investigation it was determined that the two females had engaged in a verbal argument that eventually escalated to a physical altercation. The suspect female was arrested and transported to West Grey Police Service where she was charged with Assault and released on an Undertaking, she is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Walkerton at a later date.
On May 11th, 2025 police responded to a residence in the town of Durham after a report of a domestic assault. While on scene police learned that a 9-month-pregnant female had been assaulted by her husband and kicked in the stomach several times. The female was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The male suspect was arrested and charged with Assault – Spousal and was later released on an undertaking, he will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Walkerton at a later date.
On May 12th, 2025 officers were conducting a RIDE spot check in the town of Durham when a vehicle entered the spot check and a strong odour of alcohol was detected coming from the male driver. The driver was issued a roadside breath demand and provided a sample of his breath that resulted in a ‘FAIL’. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to West Grey Police Service where he provided a sample of his breath, which resulted in readings of 140mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood – nearly twice the legal limit. The male driver was charged accordingly, released on an undertaking and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Walkerton at a later date.
