On October 17, 2024 West Grey officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Grey Rd 4. Occupants of the vehicle were observed throwing items out of the vehicle and those items were found to be baggies of suspected Methamphetamine and Fentanyl. Two males in their mid thirties from London were arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences as well as other criminal code offences. They were both held in custody for bail hearings and have since been released by the courts to reside in London and abide by strict conditions.
On October 18, 2024 a 28 year old female from Durham reported being assaulted by a 30 year old neighbour in the town of Durham. Video evidence showed the alleged victim assaulting the suspect and as a result the 28 year old was arrested, charged and released on conditions.
On October 19, 2024 a On October 19, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a report of an assault in the town of Durham. This incident may have stemmed from a previous assault at the same location. Investigation revealed a 30 yr old male resident and his 32 yr old brother assaulted and threatened death toward a 30 year old Durham male. The incident was captured on video and warrants were sought for the arrest of the two accused parties. On October 26, 2024 the accused turned themselves in and one was released with conditions. The other had outstanding warrants from another police agency and he was released on conditions and then turned over to the other police service. Both accused will appear in court in December to answer to the charges.
On October 25, 2024 West Grey Police received a report of threats being made against a 18 year old female from Ayton via Snapchat. A 19 year old male from Owen Sound was arrested by Owen Sound Police on behalf of West Grey Police and he was charged accordingly and released on conditions. He will appear in court in December.
On October 17, 2024 West Grey officers attended an address in West Grey to seize weapons from a 41 year old male resident on behalf of the London Police Service after the male uttered threats. Firearms and a crossbow were seized without incident.
On October 23, 2024 West Grey Police were made aware of a 28 year old year male breaching conditions of a release order issued back in August. He was arrested and charged with multiple breaches as well as Criminal Harassment and Intimidation. When the vehicle he was in was stopped by police the driver obstructed police by denying the male was in the vehicle. The male was located in the trunk and as a result a 22 yr old female from Walkerton was issued an appearance notice. The male remains in custody at this time.
On October 27, 2024 a West Grey officer on patrol spotted a vehicle linked to an attempted theft of a trailer enter a property on Concession 4. Officers entered the property and observed multiple items that had previously been reported stolen. Officers transported property back to the station and then returned to the property where a male party known to police as being involved with the property and multiple instances of theft was observed but evaded police capture. A warrant has been sought for his arrest. Two females who were located on scene were charged with possession of stolen property and will appear in court in December to answer to the charges.
